Features

Interior shutters are 99% of the time fitted by experienced fitters. It is possible of course to purchase them and fit them yourself or have a tradesman fit them for you, but the time and stress will probably negate the saving.

In the USA, where these products originated, shutters are fitted to timber frame buildings and window surrounds which, by and large are square. The UK housing invariably does not have these properties, there is very rarely a window that is square or level.

Solid Shutters

Our solid shutters are an option for Phoenix and Carolina.

They can be solid raised both sides or shaker style both sides or mixture of both which is the standard.

You can also mix louvres with solids.

Old fashioned solid shutters are the new shabby chic.

Again as with Carolina and Phoenix any colour.

Conservatory Shutters

Apart from looking great, conservatory shutters offer a degree of flexibility that is simply not possible with most other shading options. Unlike fabric based shading systems, shutters are easy to clean and will not rot, sag or noticeably age.

Shutters may also be used on the sides, for long sections they can be mounted on top tracking to slide away when not in use. Shutters can also be used for partitioning and multi fold internal doors. Quite often the opening to the conservatory may have shutters suspended on a top track. The solid base and louvre top shutters are used extensively for these applications.

If your enquiry is for a conservatory please make that clear when asking for a quotation.

Triangular and Arched Windows and Doors

These can be found almost anywhere and are generally an architectural feature that you want to enhance rather than hide, shutters will enhance your shaped windows.

Interior shutters

Our solid raised panel shutters are options only for the Phoenix and Portland ranges.

Solid Moulded Options

There is an SM2 option available for the Phoenix Range.

We fit a lot of these products to homes where road noise is an issue and also security. The Victorians fitted them for security and some other quite different reasons. When they went off for the season and given that the glass was very thin in those days, birds could fly into the windows and their interiors would be damaged, so the shutters were only pulled across a couple of times a year. We design differently. Our shutters can be used daily but we generally don’t pull them back into reveal boxes.

For greater light reduction, we offer rebated panel edges now as standard.
